SCOALA GIMNAZIALA « VERONICA MICLE », IASI (Romania)

I would mention some of the most important activities in which our school has been involved over the years. On the field of road education our school has represented Iasi county for 8 years at the national competition “ Road education-education for life”. We had also organised activities for the youngest school students to learn correct road rules. Our school has been a part of the nationa project “School of road safety-Tedy”. Another field is that of volunteering from National Programme of Community Action- rasing funds for the elders from our neighbourhood, colecting fruits and vegetables, clothes and toys for the children from the special schools as a part of the project “Box full of surprises”.
We were and are involved in ecological activities of cleaning our close environment- Vamasoaia river and the protecting zone “Plopii fara Sot”. We are also involved in the project “Think, apply and create”.

We are involved in our first Erasmus plus project KA229- “Being a Famous Youtuber”. This started in 2021 and it will end in 2023. It has 5 countries as participants and we are partners. The countries are Norway (the coordinator), Poland, Portugal, Turkey and Romania. The motivation of this project is students’ addiction of social media which can be transformed in a pleasant way of education and since Youtube is one of the most popular channel it would be used for producing useful outcomes. We had a project on Facebook –“Every Day is Thanksgiving Day” involving three countries –Romania, Macedonia and Bosnia and Herzegovina in which children were publishing their letters of grattitude and then they were voted by all the participants, the most popular were given prizes from English teacher of each country. The main objective was for children to get more confident in using English.

Our school has also a kindergarten, therefore our students’ age is between 3 up to 14 years old.
There are some particularities about our students: – some of them come from families that can not provide a suitable material, emotional or educational climate; at least one of the parents is unemployed, which explains their concern to ensure their every day living their lack of interest in their children’s work at school -many do not come to the meetings with their parents, nor do they get in touch with the teachers until at the very end school year; – some of them come from Casa deCopii Bucium – now called Complexul de Servicii Comunitare.
